I was blown away that “The Wire” happens so early in the show’s history. The introduction of the Obsidian Order. Meeting Enabran Tain. Learning Garak’s first name. I just had no idea that this all started in the second season! ( I've given up on learning the truth from you, Garak. )

I spent a lot of time during the Maquis two-parter, over analyzing where exactly these events fit into the overall Trek timeline. Clearly this is meant to set up the launch of Voyager. Part of the fun of this rewatch has been trying to see how long it takes before I figure out which episode it is. For some reason I just have a tough time remembering names for DS9. “Shadowplay” was no different. I enjoyed the pairing of Jadzia with Odo in the opening. I had absolutely zero memory of “The Alternate” based on the title. I put in the DVD and Mr. b and I were both confused by the cold open with Odo buying a piece of some Ferengi dude who turns out to still be alive. Didn’t we just see this? I don’t think I’ve watched “Second Sight” since Eureka started. So I was looking forward to seeing Salli Richardson play someone other than Dr. Allison Blake. The episode itself is a bit of a throwaway but I don’t particularly mind it. ( Admit it, Chief, if you were on a station where everything worked, you'd be miserable. )

I was rather dreading rewatching “Melora”. In fact, I geared up to play a rousing game of Spot Patricia Tallman as Stuntwoman just to get through. But, and yes I know this is faint praise, it really wasn’t as bad as I had remembered. ( I've come to kill you, Quark. )

It took me over a week to figure out how to write up “Invasive Procedures”. I just couldn’t think of anything meaningful to say about it. This weekend that finally clicked into place: this episode is about the guest characters almost entirely. Even more than the wonderful Kira vs a foe first season episodes.
